It is the standard practice of the Cochran Police Department to conduct comprehensive and thorough investigations into any allegation of misconduct or substandard service. Whether such allegations are from individual complaints or internally generated. City Council meetings will not be used as a public forum for complaints against Police Officers.
Complaints will be accepted in person or in writing. Complaints from
individuals who wish their names be held in confidence will also be accepted for investigation. You must be specific as to the nature of your complaint.
Complaints should be filed as soon as is reasonably possible.
The complainant will be notified of the findings once the
investigation is complete. If you're complaint concerns an incident that is under investigation, pending hearing or trial in court, you will only receive a notice stating
the incident is "Under Investigation”. However, it should be emphasized that only the final disposition will be released. The discipline imposed, if any, must be regarded as confidential personnel information.
